People obsess about automobile maintenance, strictly adhering to all manner of 3,000-mile and 30,000-mile maintenance schedules. Cyclists and triathletes are equally vigilant about their bicycle maintenance programs.
But do you perform that kind of maintenance on your own “vehicle of success.” The pounding your body takes during daily life, to say nothing of endurance training, takes your body out of alignment. As with your vehicle, this can cause serious breakdown over time.
Many athletes receive regular massages to counteract these effects and that’s not a bad place to start. But trainer David Petersen, CSCS, has taken that a step further with his “Body Tuneup Shop.” Using a technique called “myotonics,” he targets trigger points to release tension and bring the body back into alignment. In this episode of The Fitness Buff Show, the video broadcast companion of Endurance Sports Florida, you’ll see David make dramatic changes to my flexibility in a matter of seconds.Vodpod videos no longer available.
